Introduction

At the Mayine e Afrika Foundation, we inspire children to pursue what truly inspires them, nurturing their unique passions and potential. Our name, "Mayine e Afrika," meaning "Let it rain in Africa," symbolizes growth, renewal, and the abundant possibilities that lie ahead. Through our holistic approach to mental, emotional, and physical well-being, we are transforming the lives of children and building a resilient community.

We also emphasize the importance of taking care of nature, teaching children to value and protect the environment so that nature, in turn, can nurture and sustain us. By fostering a deep connection with the earth, we empower the next generation to become mindful stewards of both their personal futures and the planet.

Who We Are

We are “IgumbiLama2k”, we saw a cry for help, and we took action. We are a foundation born out of a deep awareness of the challenges faced by children in Nyanga, our community. We realized that these struggles were not isolated to our community but were widespread across the continent. Yes, children are the leaders of tomorrow, but we are the leaders of today—so what can we do now? From there, Mayine was born.

We teach children everything that isn’t being taught in schools but is crucial for thriving in life.

Why Choose Us?

We want to break the generational curse of chaos in our communities by investing in the young mind. We stand out because of our holistic, grassroots approach. By addressing challenges early in a child’s development, we lay the foundation for a brighter, more resilient future. Our programs are not just about immediate impact, they are designed to create lasting change for children, families, and communities.

We are the only organization in our community that prioritizes mental health and a deep connection with nature. Children need a place where they feel they truly belong, and we’ve created that space. The love and enthusiasm children have shown proves that they needed it all along—they just didn’t know how to express it. We cannot take this from them; it has become an essential part of their growth and well-being.

What We Do

We host personal development workshops every second Saturday of the month, known as "Teen Soul Sessions." These workshops are designed to help young people grow emotionally and mentally.

We also organize conservation adventures, led by the SANParks Honorary Rangers, to instill a love and understanding of nature. These adventures teach children the importance of protecting the environment while connecting with the natural world.

In addition, we offer one-on-one sessions where we engage in deep, meaningful conversations with children individually. This allows us to provide personalized guidance and feedback to parents, ensuring that every child gets the support they need.

We also organize outdoor education events where children have the opportunity to meet peers from different communities and engage in important discussions on topics relevant to their lives. These sessions provide a safe space for children to learn, grow, and share their experiences.
